1. Core Architecture & Privacy Baseline
Known Development LLC (“Known Development,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an engineering studio dedicated to high-performance athletic software. Our core product, VALI, is architected around strict data minimization: we do not sell personal data, we do not monetize rider telemetry, and we compute training workloads directly on your device whenever possible.
Zero Ad Tracking Guarantee: Known Development LLC never integrates third-party ad networks (such as Meta Audience Network or Google AdMob). Your training progression is private and belongs to you.
2. Telemetry & Data Collection
To generate intelligent microcycle schedules and provide real-time cycling analytics, VALI processes the following data categories:
- Account Identifiers: Apple ID credentials (via Sign in with Apple) or email, pseudonymized user ID, and benchmark preferences (target event date, weekly availability, terrain focus).
- Workout Telemetry: Power output (watts), cadence (RPM), heart rate (BPM), speed, distance, elevation profiles, gear shifting logs, and timestamped ride coordinates.
- Training Load Analytics: Chronic Training Load (CTL), Acute Training Load (ATL), Training Stress Score (TSS), and Acute-to-Chronic Workload Ratio (ACWR) calculated locally or within our encrypted pipeline.
- Crash & Performance Logs: Anonymized diagnostic dumps and memory metrics used solely for rapid bug resolution and release velocity.
3. Apple HealthKit Integration
VALI includes optional integration with Apple HealthKit (HKHealthStore). When authorized:
- VALI reads historical cycling workouts, active energy burned, and resting heart rate to establish physiological baseline and recovery states.
- VALI writes completed cycling sessions recorded through the app to Apple Health as native workout records.
Apple Health Strict Safeguard: In full compliance with Apple Developer Guidelines, HealthKit data is never shared with third parties for marketing, advertising, or data mining, nor is it transferred to unencrypted networks.
4. Bluetooth LE & Peripherals
VALI connects via CoreBluetooth to peripheral cycling hardware including smart trainers, power meters, heart rate monitors, and cadence sensors.
Bluetooth pairing and data ingestion operate locally over low-energy radio protocols. Broadcast device identifiers (MAC addresses and peripheral UUIDs) are utilized exclusively during active ride sessions for sensor handshakes and are never transmitted to external analytics servers.
5. GPS & Location Services
Real-time GPS tracking is required to log outdoor distance, gradient, elevation profiles, and route positioning.
- Location tracking operates only while a ride is actively recording or during route navigation.
- A persistent iOS background location indicator ensures you are always informed when location hardware is active.
- Known Development does not perform background geo-fencing, sell geospatial mobility logs, or track your physical location outside of active workouts.
6. On-Device Computation & Offline Caching
To ensure reliability in remote alpine passes and gravel routes lacking cellular reception, VALI executes adaptive plan recalculations directly on the device using Swift concurrency.
Ride logs are buffered locally in an encrypted SQLite / CoreData store. When network connectivity is re-established, records are synchronized with our high-availability cloud infrastructure using TLS 1.3 encryption.
7. Data Retention & Account Deletion
You retain full control over your telemetry. You may request complete export or permanent deletion of your account and associated ride history at any time:
- Directly within the VALI mobile app under Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- By sending an email request to our compliance team at admin@knowndevelopment.com.
Upon receiving a validated deletion request, all personal identifiers and telemetry stored across our production databases are permanently purged within 30 days.
8. Apple In-App Purchases & Financial Data
All premium plan subscriptions (monthly or annual tiers) are billed and processed directly through Apple Inc.’s In-App Purchase framework.
Known Development LLC never receives, stores, or accesses your credit card numbers, bank accounts, or billing addresses. Transaction verification is achieved exclusively through cryptographically validated App Store Server StoreKit 2 receipts.
9. Global Privacy Frameworks (GDPR & CCPA)
Regardless of your geographic location, Known Development LLC extends uniform data subject rights:
- Right to Access & Portability: Obtain a structured JSON export of all logged workout metrics and account records.
- Right to Rectification: Modify erroneous personal benchmarks or profile configurations.
- Right to Erasure: Permanently wipe all historical telemetry from our infrastructure.
- Non-Discrimination: We do not alter service availability or pricing should you choose to exercise your legal privacy rights.
